What data we collect

When you make a donation through this site, we collect your name (or nickname) and the message you choose to include—both of which are optional—along with the amount and date of the donation.

We do not collect or store your card or account information: payment is handled entirely by the providers listed below, who do not share financial data with us. We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, or addresses through this website, nor do we collect technical data such as IP addresses for profiling or tracking purposes.

Why we collect them

To process your donation and fulfill the related accounting and tax obligations, and—if you choose to include them—to publicly display your name and message among the messages of support on the website. If you leave these fields blank, your donation will remain anonymous and nothing will be published.

Legal Basis

The processing of your donation and the related legal obligations is based on the performance of the contract at your request and on a legal obligation (Art. 6, para. 1, subpars. b and c of the GDPR). The publication of your name and message is based on your consent (Art. 6, para. 1, subpar. a of the GDPR), which you provide by voluntarily filling out these fields and which you may withdraw at any time.

Public messages

If you enter a name and/or a message, they will be displayed publicly on the website along with the amount, as a way to thank those who support the shelters. Please enter only information that you wish to make public, and avoid including the personal information of third parties. You can request that your information be removed at any time.

Retention period

Donation details (amount and date) are retained for the period required by law under accounting and tax obligations. The name and message you choose to publish remain visible on the website until you request their removal: you can do so at any time, and we will delete them, retaining only the accounting record of the donation (without any personal data). Traffic statistics are retained for a maximum of 24 months.

Where we store data

Donation data is stored in a database managed by our hosting provider, whose servers are located within the European Union; the provider acts as a data processor pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR.

Sharing and processing

To process payments, we use Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. / Stripe, Inc.), which acts as a data processor pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR. The data is not disclosed to third parties other than the technical service providers necessary for the provision of the service, nor is it transferred, sold, or used for marketing purposes.

To prevent the publication of inappropriate content, the name and message you enter are subject to an automated check via the OpenAI service (OpenAI, L.L.C.), which acts as a data processor pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR. The check is performed in real time, is intended solely for content moderation, and is not used for profiling or to train models.

Transfers outside the EU

For payment processing (Stripe) and automatic message moderation (OpenAI), data may also be processed outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. In such cases, the transfer is based on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, on these providers’ adherence to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, in addition to the safeguards provided for in the data processing agreements.

Cookie

This website does not use profiling cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party pixels. To understand how the site is used, we rely solely on aggregated and anonymous statistics collected without cookies (see “Traffic Statistics”). The fonts are hosted directly on our domain and do not involve requests to external services.

The only cookies used are technical cookies, which are strictly necessary and set by Stripe to complete the transaction securely. Any videos are embedded in enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie), which does not set cookies until you start playback.

Traffic Statistics

To understand where our visitors come from, we collect—in aggregated and anonymous form and without cookies or any data stored on your device—the referring site, any campaign parameters (UTM), and the page visited. We do not collect your IP address, we do not use identifiers, and it is not possible to trace this information back to you.

The website is also hosted and secured by Cloudflare, which, as a data processor (Article 28 of the GDPR), processes technical connection data—including the IP address—to deliver and secure the website, and provides us with aggregated statistics (e.g., number of requests, country of origin, device type). We do not use this data to profile you. Cloudflare may also process data outside the European Economic Area, based on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Since these are first-party statistics—aggregated and without identifiers—in accordance with the guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority, your consent is not required; the legal basis is the data controller’s legitimate interest in monitoring, in aggregate form, the performance and security of the website (Article 6, paragraph 1, letter f of the GDPR). Statistical data are retained for a maximum of 24 months.

Your rights

You may at any time request access to, correction, or deletion of your data, as well as restriction of or objection to the processing of your data and data portability. You may also withdraw your consent at any time. You have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority. To exercise your rights, please write to info@petlevrieri.it.
